Cuccidati - Italian Orange & Fig Cookies
A rustic Italian-inspired cookie built on our Tallow & Crumb Butter Cookie base, studded with finely chopped figs and bright flecks of fresh orange zest folded directly into the dough. Lightly crisp at the edges and tender through the center, these cookies balance deep, honeyed fig richness with vibrant citrus lift in every bite.
Ingredients:
1 cup (111 g) The Butter Cookie Mix
1 large pasture-raised egg
1/3 (75 g) salted butter (or tallow plus a pinch of salt)
2 tbsp chopped figs (or 1-3 figs, depending on your carb limit goals)
1 tablespoon grated orange peel (use a microplane)
½ tsp orange blossom water (al gusto - to taste!)
Directions:
Cream the butter & add the egg and add the orange zest and orange blossom water.
Add the cookie mix. Do not overmix. Hand mix in the chopped figs.
Place in the refrigerator for 30 mins.
Drop dough onto a parchment lined cookie sheet.
Bake 325 12-15 minutes.
Makes 10-12 cookies.
